School Programme
Our 8-week school repair programme combines repair workshops and classroom activities which build repair skills and a repair mindset.
The programme caters for Years 3-10, and gives students a process to grow their tangible problem-solving skills and repair abilities.
Our programme is divided into 3 parts:
Why Repair? - understanding how products are made, and developing an ethic of care for resources and the planet
What's the Problem? - getting hands-on with the repair process, and building analysis & repair skills
Beyond Repair - learning how to make the most of resources when an item can't be repaired
Benefits
Good for the environment - learn to repair and re-purpose, rather than throw away
Great for learning - instant problems to solve, debugging, analytical thinking, build curiosity, discover how technology is designed and made and repaired
Good for communities - engage parents and whanau to help solve problems, share their knowledge and skills
learning outcomes
All our activities are linked with the NZ Curriculum, aligning strongly with Technology and Science Achievement Objectives, as well as Education For Sustainability, several Key Competencies, and 21st-Century Skills. Curriculum links are provided for each activity.
